A. Choses in possession
These are tangible items, and are commonly known as chattels or goods. They
can be possessed or controlled physically
B. Choses in action
These are intangible pieces of personal property. Because they do not have a
physical presence, then cannot be possessed. They are referred to as rights.
Example:
- company shares
- a sum of money owed (debt)
- insurance policies
- intellectual property
- business goodwill
- cheques
C. Chattels real
This is a lease of land in which a tenant gets exclusive possession for a number of
years, usually in return for a rental.
