Presented by: Mr. R H Vishwakarma Mr. J V Mehta Mr. A H Poladia

Overview
Introduction Why Optical Telemetry System(OTS)? How it works? Component of telemetry Advantages and drawbacks Areas of applications Future improvements

Introduction
What is Telemetry?
Telemetry is the transmission of measured physical quantity to a convenient remote location in the form suitable for display analysis.

Why is it essential?
Remote monitoring possible Safer in hazardous environments

Introduction
What is SCADA?
SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) generally refers to industrial control systems (ICS): computer systems that monitor and control industrial, infrastructure, or facility-based processes

Introduction
SCADA Architecture

How it works?

Advantages & Disadvantages

Advantages:
Extremely high bandwidth Early detection of cable damage and secure transmissions Small size and weight Low transmission loss

Disadvantages:
Installation costs, while dropping, are still high Special test equipment is often required Wildlife damage to fiber optic cables

Applications
Industrial Parameter Monitoring Bio-Medical Applications Energy monitoring Flight testing Water management

Future Improvements
The project designed here is a Human-Machine-Interface(HMI). This can be converted into a totally automatic system by doing some modifications in the existing system. By increasing the number of sensors, more parameters can be measured as well. The optical fiber system can be converted to a wireless system.
