Two Macomb County adult day service facilities will be available for respite care for the convenience of workshop attendees. Q. Will there be a charge for this respite service? A. No charge. This service is provided courtesy of Macomb County Senior Citizens Services. A complimentary lunch will be provided for your loved one. Q. How about lunch for attendees? A. Lunch is included and free for attendees, also. Q. Do I have to live in Macomb County? A. No, anyone may be referred to the program.

Macomb Community Colleges Center for Continuing Education and the Macomb County Department of Senior Citizens Services have partnered to provide practical help and emotional support for family caregivers with hands-on training workshops to: identify caregiving tasks and challenges discover available programs and services cope with difficult behavior partner with your medical team find ways to avoid stress and burnout Caregivers participating in this FREE workshop will learn: how to assess a physical environment for safety threats how to apply universal infection control precautions about assistive medical equipment for home use safe bed to chair, chair to walker transferring techniques how to assist with activities of daily living how physical/mental activity and nutrition relate to health
