Parenting: Assist in coordinating services between the school and families; coordinate classes to learn how to use Echo. Communication: Use Connect-Ed, the marquee, monthly mailers, and bulletin boards to communicate regularly with families. Felipe commits to home visits. Felipe will coordinate monthly home visit days to provide the support for teachers to visit homes of their students, opening critical communication channels between the home and school. Volunteering: Spearhead the Parent Action Team, a dedicated group of 1520 parents and community members who will meet weekly to improve parent leadership. They will host staff/parent luncheons to break down barriers, observe in teachers classrooms, fundraise, volunteer in small school activities, and participate at press conferences, at sports events and District meetings.

Build routines and programs that will involve families with their childrens learning at home. Host an Individual Graduation Plan fair with staff as part of its Showcase Night work. Meet and work with parents and community in the schools decision-making bodies. CEAC and ELAC voting members are all parents. Half of the School Site Council (SSC), responsible for all budgetary decisions and the Single Plan, will be community members including three parents and three students. The SSC will meet monthly and respond to CEAC and ELAC recommendations that will be made earlier in the month.

Key Community Partnerships: Develop relationships with local colleges and work hard to create positive relationships with other resources in the community.

Participate in the Safe Passages meetings, which brings together a variety of organizations working to minimize crime in the neighborhood and make the streets safe for students and families. Increase internships for 11th and 12th graders by contacting potential business and NGO partners.

Hiring: Implement a staff recruitment campaign that results in several highly qualified applicants for each position offered and an ongoing stream of interest in employment opportunities.
