BECK YOUTH INVENTORY INTRODUCTION: The beck youth inventory are five self report scales that used

to assess a child expression of depression, anxiety, anger disruptive behaviour, self concept. The inventory are intended for use with children and adolescents between ages of 7 to 18. this inventory is designed to identify symptoms of depression in children and adolescents. It include items that reflect the respondent negative thoughts about himself or herself, his or her life and future, feelings of sadness, and psychological indications of depression. Beck Anxiety Inventory for youth(BAI-Y) The items in this inventory reflect children fear(about school,getting hurt, therir health)worrying and psychological symptoms associated with anxiety. Beck Anger Inventory for youth(BANI-Y) Items include mistreatment, negative thouths about others, feelings of anger, and physiological arousal. Beck Disruptive Behavior Inventory for Youth(BDBI-Y) Behavior and attitudes associated with conduct disorder and oppositional defiant behavior are included in this inventory. Beck Self Concept Inventory for Youth (BSCI-Y) The items in this inventory explore self perception, such as competency, potency, positive self worth. ADMINISTRATION TIME: Depending on youth age, reading ability and mental status 5 to 10 minutes should be allotted for each inventory. SCORING The total raw score for each inventory is obtain by adding item score, wich may be 0,1,2,3 for all 20 items of this scale. Only one score may be counted for each time. There is a shaded box at the bottom of each inventory labeled RS. Place the total raw score in this box. The range of total raw scores on each of five inventory is 0 to 60. Missing Items : In computing total raw scores, missing items responses should be estimated by the mean response value of the items answered by the youth of that inventory. Total raw scores may not be converted to T scores without this missing item estimation step. Converting Total Raw Scores To T Scores The linear T score transformation method was chosen for transformation total raw scores to standardize scores, converting to a mean of 50 and standard deviation of 10.appendix A contains T scores conversion for sixnorm group for each of five inventories. For children ages 7-10, use table A.1. The left side of table is for female and the right side for male. Read the raw score to obtain T scores for inventory table A2 contains t scores for children aged 11-14 and table A3 for youth between the ages 15-18. Determining Cumulative Percentages: T score provide a common metric that allows profiling across scale. It allows a comparision of individuals total raw scores relative to the total variability of that individuals norm group.The cumulative percentage of a particular T score indicate how many individuals within that norm group obtain that score or lower .
