As you can imagine, a guy as skinny and weak as me got pushed around by everybody else. In middle school, I'd be minding my own business walking down the hall and other kids would body check me into the lockers, knock books out of my hands and shove me headfirst into the girls locker room just because they knew I was too skinny and weak to do anything about it.

I hated being skinny. My parents told me there wasn't much I could do about it. You see, I was cursed with absolutely horrible genetics for building muscle and strength. My dad is skinny too he weighed just 125 pounds on his wedding day. But even though the deck was stacked against me, I was determined to solve the muscle gain mystery and figure out how even a guy like me could build muscle and strength. So I tried it all starting with Arnold Schwartzeneggar's famous bodybuilding routine. I was training 4 hours a day and seeing absolutely zero results. Over the next few years, I tried hundreds of different workout plans, nutrition schemes and pricey supplements.

I stuffed my face 'round the clock even setting my alarm for 3:30AM so I could drink a protein shake in the middle of the night. I trained so hard I'd end up vomiting in the middle of my workouts. But I didn't care. I'd wipe the puke of my shirt and keep going. I was completely consumed by my quest of finally getting a muscular body.

But Nothing Worked!


For years, I spun my wheels. I spent hours in the gym, wasted thousands of dollars on useless supplements... and I had absolutely nothing to show for it. In fact, thanks to all the sugary protein shakes I'd been sluggin' back on a nightly basis... I looked even worse than when I started! I was still skinny and weak, but I also managed to gain fat and get a soft belly. I ended up skinny AND fat at the exact same time! After all the time, effort and money wasted... I was still too embarrassed to take off my shirt at the beach.

One night, frustrated after yet another lackluster workout, I was searching on a popular bodybuilding forum for a new workout program to try. And a bunch of guys were talking about this guy Eugene Sandow. I'd never heard of him. Turns out he was a bodybuilder from over a hundred years ago! In fact, this photo is Eugene Sandow way back in 1898!

I couldn't believe my eyes. This old time bodybuilder managed to build a lean and muscular physique the kind of body you would be proud to show off on the beach and he did it before steroids, creatine and other modern supplements were even invented!

Eugene Sandow, 1898 I had to know his secrets. So I started researching how Eugene Sandow and other old-time bodybuilders managed to build lean and muscular physiques over a hundred years ago. And I What I Discovered Absolutely Amazed Me! Turns out Sandow wasn't just some random guy blessed with good genetics. I found dozens of other old-school guys from 75, 90, even 100 years ago who managed to build lean and muscular physiques without steroids or modern equipment. Here's just a handful of guys who managed to build incredible physiques before steroids were even invented...

The old-time guys drank beer almost every night and some of them even drank beer during their workouts! Or how about this: If you want 6-pack abs, you've got to do plenty of sit-ups and crunches and do at least 30 minutes of cardio every day , right?

The old-timers had chisled abs... but they almost NEVER did situps and NEVER did any running, jogging or any cardio AT ALL! Sounds CRAZY, right? That's What I Thought. So I Did A Little Experiment... I turned myself into a human guniea pig and I decided to copy the secrets and strategies of these old time bodybuilders. At first, it was just a crazy experiment. I figured I'd have fun for a few weeks and then go back to my normal way of eating and my normal workouts. But to my surprise I started seeing amazing results! Almost immediately after implementing a few simple strategies, I started noticing the difference. Weights that used to feel heavy in the gym were FLYING up without much effort at all. And I was getting stronger almost every single day. My muscles got bigger, denser and harder. My belly fat started to magically melt away and before long I had six-pack abs. I couldn't believe it: I was eating what most people consider junk food every single night... I was doing absolutely zero cardio... no situps... no crunches... and yet I had rock-hard abs. In the past I'd always struggled with chin-ups, but now I could do 20 in a row! And I even did a chin-ups with a whopping 100 pounds strapped to my waist! And The Best Part? Secret #1: Eating Every 3 Hours Makes You Fat! Every single muscle magazine... every single personal trainer and every single online fitness guru tells you to eat 6 small meals per day. They want you to eat 6 times per day. For years, I fell for this lie. I even hired an expensive bodybuilding coach to help take my physique to the next level. His advice? Eat 12 times per day! Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it is to prepare, cook, eat and clean-up the kitchen 12 times a day? I tried it for 3 months. My grocery bill was astronomical and I almost never left the house. I was hermit trapped in my kitchen. Worst of all, all this did was make me fatter. No thank you! When I started researching the methods and practices of the old time bodybuilders, I discovered that these old-timer put a lot of emphasis on mastication as they called it or digestion as we call it now. They believe that overloading the body with food could actually SLOW DOWN your muscle gain and you can actually gain MORE muscle by eating FEWER meals.

Sounds crazy, I know. But when I stopped eating 6-12 mini-meals per day and started eating BIGGER meals I dropped fat and built muscle with ease. Secret #2: Constantly Changing Your Workout Does NOT Confuse Your Muscles This is another one of those ridiculous myths that everyone believes but nobody really knows why. I guess on the surface, it makes sense. If you confuse your muscles, it seems like they could grow faster. But this is dead wrong. Let me show you: Your muscles don't have brains. They can't anticipate your exercises or your workouts, they just follow your instructions. (Lift this now!) Think of it this way: When you drive to work, do you take a different path every single time to confuse your car? No? Well... why not? Well, it's because your car doesn't have a brain. It just follows simple commands. When you hit the gas, it goes. When you hit the brakes, it stops. When you turn the wheel... you get the picture. It's mechanical. Your muscles are the same way. They don't need to be confused. Because they don't have brains. They operate in a very mechanical method.

If they're not being used, they atrophy (shrink). Or if they're being used strenuously, they undergo hypertrophy (they grow.) When you bounce around from one workout program to the next, you never really make any progress. But if you stick with one simple program, week after week after week... your muscles have no choice but to grow! Case in point: Say you go into the gym every Monday and work on the Bench Press. And every week you add just 2 pounds to the bar. Not very much, right? But do the math: After 52 weeks, you'll have added 104 pounds to your bench press. Which means if you're like most gym rats stuck benching 185 pounds, after a year you'll be bench pressing 289 pounds! And it goes without saying that your chest, shoulders and arms will be bigger too. You'll have slabs of new muscle all over your upper body. Because you didn't try to confuse your muscles. Instead you just asked your muscles to do a little bit more than they did last time. The old-timer trainers made it a practice to add small amounts of iron to the bar each week. Because these slow and steady increases quickly add up to massive muscles. Secret #3: To Get Lean & Ripped, Eat Fatty Foods And Drink Plenty of Booze

If you're like me, you always heard you should avoid fatty foods and avoid alcohol if you want to get a lean & muscular physique. But that's all wrong! Listen: I got in the best shape of my life and I ate or drank almost anything I wanted. I had pizza just about every single week. I ate plenty of fatty foods. I ate chocolate almost every single day. And I enjoyed my favorites beers, wines and mixed drinks 4-5 nights a week! How could I eat and drink like that and get a lean & muscular physique? The key is TIMING. You can eat the foods you want to eat and drink the drinks you want to drink if you eat & drink them at the right TIME of day. And as for eating healthy, well I guess there are too different definitions of what health food is. Dr. Oz and other mainstream doctors think whole grains, fruits, vegetables are healthy food. But I discovered the old time trainers ate plenty of lard, eggs (yolks too), butter, bacon, cheese... and all sorts of rich foods while still enjoying lean and muscular physiques. Again, the key to all of this is timing. More on this later. Secret #4: You Can Get Razor-Sharp Abs WITHOUT ANY Cardio Or Crunches Celebrity gossip magazines will often talk about how so-and-so did 1,000 crunches a day to get in shape for a movie role.

Yuck, no thanks. Maybe I'm lazier than most but I'd much rather watch TV instead of doing 1,000 crunches a day. That's why most people find it so shocking when I reveal that I got my rocking six-pack by doing absolutely ZERO crunches EVER. ZERO crunches. ZERO sit-ups. Oh and no cardio either. That's right, no jogging. No running. No biking. No swimming nothing like that. I got my razor sharp abs by focusing on a couple ancient exercises but oddly enough they don't LOOk like ab exercises. But they still give your midsection a brutal workout in only a few minutes a few times a week. And as for cardio PUHLEASE! I can't help but laugh every time I see a jogger on the side of the road. Because joggers, runners, speed-walkers, bikers they're all wasting their time! I almost feel bad for 'em. I went to a beach wedding recently and one of the guests came up to me and said, I run marathons but you've got better abs than me. What's your secret? \Secret #5: Cheat Your Way To Bigger Muscles I still remember going to my family doctor when I was about 14 to get cleared for a weight lifting class at school. His words: So you want to get stronger? Lift light weights and be sure to use a full range of motion don't cheat!

Over the years, I've heard many other doctors repeat this same myth. Despite the fact that most doctors know absolutely nothing about fitness, they all feel qualified to keep repeating the same myths. When I researched the methods of the old time bodybuilders, I discovered that cheating was a cornerstone of their programs. Let me give you a quick example:

That's Chuck Sipes a bodybuilder/lifter from over 60 years ago. As you can see, he's both lean and muscular. But what most people do NOT know is that Chuck Sipes was famous for cheating. Chuck found that he gained muscle faster if he only lifted the barbell a few inches instead of performing the exercise through the full range of motion like most people do.

So for example, on the bench press, instead of lowering the bar all the way down to his chest and then pressing it up from there, Chuck would lower the bar only a few inches. And sometimes, he'd just load up a lot of weight and instead of lifting the bar he'd just hold the weight at arms length above his chest.

Chuck called these heavy supports and many old time bodybuilders believed holding heavy weights like this built up strength in your tendons and ligaments which eventually allowed you to build more muscle and strength. I've shared this strategy with a few guys and every single guy who's tried it has added at LEAST 25 pounds to their maximum bench press in a matter of just a few weeks. Secret #6: You Can Get A Lean & Muscular Physique WITHOUT Living In The Gym Believe it or not, most of the old-time bodybuilders didn't plan their entire lives around working out or eating right. It was more of a hobby a past time for them. In my research, I discovered that most old time bodybuilders and lifters trained for just one hour, 3 times per week. They didn't stress about carbs or fats either, they just ate plenty of good food, drank plenty of beer and wine and still enjoyed lean & muscular physiques. And remember, this was all before steroids were even invented. How is this possible? Well, again it has to do with timing and the types of workouts these old-timers would do. Most old-timers did short but brief full-body workouts 3x per week. And these workouts not only built tremendous amounts of muscle but helped keep them lean too. Now compare that with most modern-day bodybuilders. I once read an interview with a modern-day Mr. Olympia. He said he bought a motorcycle but never rides it because he has to pack a cooler full of meals with him and it doesn't fit on the bike.

Isn't that sad? He's a prisoner in his own house all because of his quest to be bigger and stronger. Look I get it. I can't explain how amazing it feels to have a lean & muscular physique. It gives you this amazing feeling of confidence and power. People treat you better because they can tell you respect yourself. But what good is having a lean & muscular physique if you can't ever leave the house? That's why the methods of these old time bodybuilders are so interesting to me. Because they discovered ways to build muscle, burn fat and get a lean & muscular physique without living in the gym or the kitchen. I used to plan my life around working out and cooking my meals. Like I said, I even used to set my alarm clock for 3:30am just so I can could slug back an extra protein shake. But after discovering these ancient fitness secrets, my life is so much simpler now. I don't stress about my short & simple workouts. I don't worry about constantly eating, cooking and cleaning. I just follow a simple eating plan, eat delicious foods and maintain a lean & muscular physique all year round. Secret #7: It's Easier Than You Think Many of today's modern-day fitness gurus want to make you believe it's difficult to get a lean & muscular physique. But it's NOT!
