Press Release No. 115/2011 23 November 2011 ASEAN Womens Circle Ladies in Riyadh Donates to Typhoon Victims
The ASEAN Womens Circle (AWC) in Riyadh, which includes spouses and ladies from ASEAN Embassies in Riyadh, held its annual AWC Bazaar last 13 October 2011 during the ASEAN Festival 2011 at the Royal Thai Embassy Residence. The AWC Bazaar is an annual event, held in parallel with the ASEAN Festival in Riyadh. Every year, the AWC decides Photo 1 Philippine Embassy Ladies in a group photo before the ASEAN what to do with the proceeds Women's Circle Bazaar of the bazaar. Last year, the AWC Bazaar proceeds were all donated to Indonesia. The AWC this year decided to donate certain amounts to various charities and disaster-stricken countries. A part of the proceeds were donated to Japan for victims of the tsunami, Thailand for victims of the ongoing flood, and the Philippines for typhoon victims. There are eight ASEAN member-states with embassies in Riyadh; namely the Philippines, Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Philippine Embassy in Riyadh remitted the AWC contribution of US$765.56 to the National Disaster Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) last 16 November 2011.
