THE OSCILLATION OF A SIMPLE PENDUILUM

OBJECTIVE :

1. To find the periodic time for the oscillation of various length of simple pendulum. 2. To determine a value for the acceleration due to gravity, g.
APPARATUS :

1) A pendulum bob. 2) 1 m thread 3) Stop watch 4) protector 5) meter ruler 6) cork 7) retort stand and clamp
PROCEDURE : 1) the pendulum was assembled and initially set L to 80.0 cm. 2) the pendulum was displaced to one side with a small angle (less than 10). 3) the pendulum was released and stopwatch was started simultaneously. 4) The timer was stopped when the pendulum has completed ten oscillation. 5) The length L and the time taken for ten oscillation was recorded in table 1. 6) Step 2 to step 5 was repeated for another two readings by using the same L. 7) The whole step was repeated with different length of L. 8) The table 1 was completed.
