LK : Mahadasha Pt Bhooshan Priya

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/lalkitab_remedies/

The word Mahadasha could mislead a traditional astrologer. It has nothing to do with the Mahadasha as is known in the traditional Vedic astrology. The years allotted to the planets are the same as in the Vinshottari Dasha of traditional astrology, but there the similarity ends. All said and done it is a very interesting concept of the Lal Kitab. At places it is slightly confusing. My effort is to simplify the concept and present it to you. As a matter of fact the Mahadasha in the Lal Kitab is euphuism for a spell of bad luck. It is some thing similar to a spell of bad luck one faces during a sade saati of Shani in the traditional system. The book says : kisi grah ka lagatar hi manda zamana mahadasha ka arsa hoga a continued malefic spell of a planet will be called a mahadasha. Mahadasha is not a cycle a native has to go through necessarily like that in the traditional vedic astrology where every body has to go through a maha dasha of one planet or the other. A native may have this spell of bad luck of Lal Kitab mahadasha only if a lot of conditions are met. The conditions are so many that only a few unlucky persons may have to go through the Lal Kitab Mahadasha. A native will NOT have to go through a mahadasha [ spell of bad luck] if : [ 1 ] If the moon is of good effects [ achchha asar ] any where in the horoscope. [ 2 ] If a planet placed in the 4th house is good. [ 3 ] If there is at least one planet in the Kendra houses [ 1,4,7,10] and at the same time if there is either of the following : [ a ] Moon in 2nd or 9th [ b ] Rahu in 3rd [ c ] mercury or rahu in 6th [ d ] Venus or Ketu in the 12th

If any of the above conditions are fulfilled then there will be NO mahadasha. The following planets will NEVER give or result in a mahadasha [ a ] planet of destiny [ b ] exalted planet [ c ] qayam grah [ well established planet ] [ d ] Planet of rasi phal [ e ] a planet which is nek [ benefic ] Taking the above exceptions into account you can very well imagine how rare this mahadasha is going to be. Probably it would be a very few natives who may have to go through a mahadasha. After having eliminated the possibility of mahadasha on the counts enumerated above, if there is a planet which qualifies to give the spell of bad luck [ mahadasha ] then the following conditions ALSO will have to be fulfilled. Following planets can give mahadasha only if : Jupiter [ 16 years ] : debilitated in 10th ; and Saturn in #1 ; Ketu 3 or 6; Rahu 9 or 10; Sun [ 6 years ] : debilitated in 7th and mercury in 12th Moon [ 10 years ] : debilitated in 8th and Saturn in 1st; mars 4th; venus 6th ; Jupiter 10th Venus [ 20 years ] : debilitated in 6th ; and Mars in 4th ; Jupiter in 10th Mars [ 7 years ] : debilitated in 4th ; and Saturn in 1st ; venus 6th; rahu 9th or 12th Mercury [ 17 years ] : debilitated in 12th; and Saturn in 1st ; ketu 3 or 6 ; mars 4th ; Jupiter 10th Saturn [ 19 years] : debilitated in 1st ; and Ketu 3 or 6 ; Jupiter in 10th Rahu [ 18 years ] : debilitated in 9th or 12th ; and Moon in 8th ; Jupiter in 10th Ketu [ 7 years ] : debilitated in 3rd or 6th ; and Saturn 1st ; sun 7th ; Jupiter 10th ; mercury 12th If you notice that a planet can result in giving a spell of bad luck [ mahadasha ] only if the planet itself is in debility and at least one of its equal planets is also in debility. That means if a horoscope has at least two or more planets in debility then only the spell of maha dasha can be expected, that too subject to other conditions stated above.

This further narrows down the possibility of a mahadasha in a horoscope. Now you can imagine how rare a phenomenon it is going to be. This is how the mahadasha will operate. [ 1 ] A planet which is either in debility or otherwise badly placed will start the mahadasha the day it gets placed in the Lagna in a varshphal. [ 2 ] The planet of mahadasha will not get any help from its friendly planets. [ 3 ] The planet of mahadasha will get harmed by its enemies though. [ 4 ] The adverse effects on the native will be only for the significations of the house the mahadasha planet is placed in. [ 5 ] The mahadasha planet will continue to have friends, enemies or aspects etc as it would have had it not been a mahadasha planet. [ 6 ] No individual can have a spell of bad luck for more than 39 years. This statement, 6th above, needs some explanation. How did Pt. Roopchand ji arrive at a figure of 39 years? Pt Roopchand ji took a hypothetical example of a planet with a maximum dasha years and that is Venus with 20 years of dasha period. He assumed that Venus has already been identified as a planet of mahadasha , having qualified through all the conditions talked about above. A native starts a Lal Kitab mahadasha of Venus, and after 20 years when he is about to finish this LK mahadasha the native starts the Vinshottari mahadasha of Venus. Thus the native will be under the dasha of venus twice once the mahadasha of Lal Kitab and next the Vinshottari mahadasha. In this situation Pt. Roopchand ji says that the intervening year, the year of transit from LK mahadasha to Vinshottari dasha, will be a year of respite. That year will not be a year of bad spell. Thus of the 40 years of Venus dasha only 39 years will be bad. In order to find out as to when or in which years the enemy planets of Mahadasha planet are going to adversely effect, you will have to make a table. The table is given on page 41 of Arun Sanhita 1952 edition : For the table the sequence to be followed is this : sun ; moon; ketu; mars; mercury ; Saturn; rahu; planets in the 8th ; planets in the 9th; Jupiter; venus; planets in the 12th house. Suppose the planet, having satisfied all the conditions enumerated above, that has gone into Mahadasha is mercury, then write mercury in the first slot followed by Saturn, rahu, planet of the 8th, planet of the 9th ; Jupiter; venus; planet of the 12th; sun; moon; ketu; and Mars.

As you know that the mercury dasha will start from the year and month it gets placed in the Lagna of the Varsh Phal chart. Write that year under the first column. Suppose the mercury is placed in the 12th house, then the dasha will start in the 12th year of the native, i.e. when the mercury will get placed in the Lagna in the Varsh Phal chart. Under the mercury write 12 and fill in the slots. These figures will show the years of the natives age. In case there are no planets in the 8th,9th and 12th houses then the rasi lord of these houses should be written.

Since moon is the only enemy of mercury therefore the adverse effects of the moon will be apparent in the 21st year of the native. Remember the mercury mahadasha will last only for 17 years. Therefore the effect of the enemy planets will be relevant only for those 17 years. In the example case above if the mercury dasha starts in the 12th year, it will last till the end of the 28th year only. Bhooshan Priya
