241 Culver Road, Apt. 1 Rochester, NY 14607 (585) 314-9987 XXX@simon.rochester.edu September 27, 2007 Ms. Lisa Burns General Electric Company 1100 East Main Cross Suite 15 Findlay, OH 45840 Dear Ms. Burns: I am writing to apply for the Marketing Associate position I learned about from my mentor, Kelly Little. I am currently earning my Master of Science in Business Administration at the Simon Graduate School of Business, concentrating in Marketing. My enthusiasm and eagerness coupled with my hands-on experience in marketing, sales and customer relations will make me a valuable part of the General Electric team. As a Marketing Intern at NYC2012, the organization working to bring the Summer Olympics to New York City in 2012, I worked to promote and sell the legacy aspect of the 2012 games for New York City. The legacy portion of the NYC2012 bid is one of the most important aspects of winning the Olympics because it explains the lasting impact the games would have on New York City. I developed a strategic plan for NYC2012s Youth Sports Education program, which included writing a marketing plan, implementing programs and curriculum and building partnerships with local colleges and government organizations. Meeting strict deadlines, working effectively with outside organizations and communicating my results were essential to my success as a Marketing Intern with NYC2012. Additionally, my success at M&T Bank prior to attending Simon was due to my ability to market products and successfully target prospective customers. My strong analytical skills, keen sense of customer focus, strong team mentality and excellent presentation skills will enable me to be a valuable part of the General Electric team. I have also continued to enhance my leadership skills at Simon. As Co-President of Simon Volunteers I am spearheading the clubs effort to raise $20,000 to purchase holiday gifts for underprivileged children in the Rochester community. Additionally, I have implemented change by initiating three new events to increase fundraising efforts and expanded the clubs focus by trying to reach more of the Rochester community through organizing tutoring and community service. I am VP of Special Events for the Graduate Women in Business club and directed the largest golf tournament held for the Simon student body. I am also a founding member and VP of Education for the newly formed Simon School Golf Club which inducted 50 new members this year. My interest in General Electric stems from my desire to work for an organization that fosters flexible thinking and innovative ideas. In addition, I want to work in a company that recognizes hard work and exceptional talent. The combination of being encouraged to bring new ideas to the table and to get recognized for these efforts is what really draws me to General Electric. I believe my skills from my previous work experience, along with my education at the Simon School have prepared me to contribute to General Electrics dynamic workplace. I would appreciate the opportunity to interview for the Marketing Associate position. I will contact you next week to make sure you received my documents. Thank you for your time and consideration. Sincerely, Lyndie B. Siff

September 15, 2007 Ms. Lisa Burns Recruiting Administrator General Electric Company 1100 East Main Cross, Suite 15 Findlay, OH 45840 Dear Ms. Burns: An employment posting on the General Electric Company website indicates you have a full time opening in your Marketing Division. I am a M.S. in Business Administration student at the Simon School of Business at the University of Rochester, pursuing concentrations in Marketing. I believe my track record demonstrates that I possess the skills sought by your company, thereby making me a strong candidate for the Marketing Associate position. Prior to attending Simon, I shaped a solid marketing background, through my Bachelors Degree from Boston College in Mass Communications and as an Intern at Axiom Advertising where I developed skills in sales management, retail marketing, and creative strategy. While at the Simon School, I am refining my knowledge of Capital Budgeting and Corporate Objectives, Pricing, and Global Market Strategy. In addition, during the summer of 2007, I joined the American Express Global Establishment Services team as an Associate Marketing Intern. My internship at this company afforded me the opportunity to work on the development of a project to promote the companys credit card products among the major cities in Mexico and the Caribbean. My interest in General Electric arises from my aspiration to work for an adventurous and socially conscious organization. This past year General Electric spent 12 million dollars developing an energy efficient light source quoted by the New York Times as the 21st centurys newest glowing technology. General Electric also rolled out a 10 year strategic plan to expand manufacturing plants in Siberia thereby creating more value for shareholders and providing jobs to rural Siberians. These are two examples of what makes General Electric creative and proactive at problem-solving and these are two examples of why I want to work for General Electric. I am confident that the skills that I acquired in my previous work experience, along with my education at the Simon School, have prepared me to contribute immediately to your organization. I will contact you next week to discuss the next steps in the application process. I appreciate your consideration. Sincerely, Esteban R. Dvalos Enclosure: Rsum
