Mt. Hope Community Fire Department Driver Operator Performance Evaluation Criteria

PURPOSE
These criteria have been developed to insure that MHFD Driver/Operations are current in the needed knowledge and abilities to perform their duties as Driver/ Operators to standards expected by MHFD. Personnel not passing the process will be allowed to re-test on those sections failed approximately one month after the initial process.

PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE Scope:

The MHFD Driver Operator shall perform routine tests, inspections, and servicing functions on the systems and components specified in the following list, given a fire department vehicle and its manufacturer s specification, so that the operational status of the vehicle is verified:

1. Battery/batteries 2. Braking system 3. Coolant system 4. Electrical system 5. Fuel 6. Hydraulic fluids 7. Oil 8. Tires 9. Steering system 10. Belts 11. Tools, appliances, and equipment Passing Score: 100%

Scope:
The MHFD Driver Operator will be tested on his/her knowledge of the location of equipment on each MHFD apparatus by locating the assigned equipment on the assigned apparatus within two minutes.

Passing Score: 90% Process:

1. The MHFD Driver Operator will be given a list of specified equipment for the apparatus they are being evaluated on. 2. The MHFD Driver Operator shall then locate the equipment on the given apparatus, retrieve it, and give a brief description of the function of the tool. 3. Process must be completed within the given time for each apparatus. 4. After equipment is assembled the MHFD Driver Operator shall explain the function of the equipment.

Scope:
The MHFD Driver Operator will be evaluated on his/her ability to perform given pump operation scenarios on various MHFD apparatus.

Passing Score: 100% Process:

1. The MHFD Driver Operator will be given a list of directives to demonstrate the knowledge to perform specific task associated with our operation. 2. The MHFD Driver Operator will perform the following drills utilizing given MHFD apparatus: 3. The Driver Operator shall demonstrate knowledge of the steps of pump operation during all evolutions without compromising water flow. #1- Forward lay from hydrant #2- Drafting from a portable water supply #3- Pump the attack pumper with a direct feed tanker #4- Pump the tanker in a Tanker to Pumper operation

#5- Operate the tanker in a quick dump operation

Mt. Hope Fire Department Driver Operator Truck Check Off Sheet
This form should only be signed when the Driver Operator Candidate has completed and passed all the requirements for that apparatus. The evaluator s signature is stating that he/she has witnessed or knows the Driver Operator has met all the requirements. Any Officer of the Dept. can be an evaluator.
