Martin Luther King Jr.

Martin Luther King Jr. was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, Georgia. He was the first son and second son child born to the Reverend Martin Luther king and Alberta Williams King. He began his education at the Youge Street Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia. Then, he attended the Atlanta Laboratory School and Booker T. Washington High School. In 1948, he graduated from Morehouse College a B.A. degree in sociology. In September of 1951, he studied at Harvard University. Martin Luther king Jr. became assistant pastor Ebenezer. He was the pastor of Dexter Avenue from September 1954 to November 1959. In 1963,

Martin wrote a letter to Birmingham Jail arguing that it was his mortal responsibility to disobey unjust rules. Then, he later delivered his "I Had a Dream" speech to civil rights at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C., around 1963. In 1964, Marin Luther King Jr. won the Nobel Peace Prize. In 1965, he organized a mass march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, that created national support for federal voting rights. In 1963, he was assassinated Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee.
