Greetings dear readers! North America Institute of
Vihangam Yoga would like to wish all the readers
around the globe a Very Happy and Prosperous
New Year. New Year marks the beginning of a
new calendar year. On this day people make
resolutions or commitments to one or more
personal goals, projects, or the reforming of a
habit. Then, why not adding a spiritual goal to it
which brings mental and health stability, peace
and harmony and overall prosperity. This can be
achieved by investing only 20 minutes out of 1440
minutes daily.

salvation, we need a great Master or Guru. A
guru, who has himself practiced and has the
power of leading one successfully through this
journey of “Yog” or salvation, A guru- who has
documented a step by step approach, and who
has taken an oath to provide salvation to at least
100000 souls- is none other than His Holiness
Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj.
Sadguru is a divine, conscious entity. He is an
eternal entity like the soul and the God. At the
same time, He is neither a soul nor the God.
However, He bears all qualities of God.
Omnipresence, omniscience and omnipotence are
few properties of the Sadguru energy as well.
Vedas say:
Antisantam na jahatyati santam na pashyati|
Devasya pashya kavyam na mamar na jiryati||
Atharva Veda, 10-8-32
Purport: There’s a saint near you. You don’t see
Him but He looks at you. Find out His yogic
powers. He neither dies nor grows old.
Which saint is this? This is none but the Sadguru.
When a practitioner takes shelter under the
Sadguru, achieving the prime objective of life
becomes easy. In fact, once a seeker is able to
find the Sadguru, half the job is done.
Sadguru Sadafaldeo in the holy book, Swarved
says,
Prathame Sadguru khojo hansa|
Sadguru milan milahi prabhu ansha|| Swarved 6/5
Purport: O souls seeking the Lord relentlessly!
First search for the Sadguru because by finding
the Sadguru, one partially achieves the God.
Giving an unequivocal assurance to mankind, our
most revered Sadguru, His Holiness Sadafaldeo Ji
Maharaj claims:
Adbhut Maarag Yog Vihangam, main
tumkobatlaaunga|
Yadi vidhiwat tum saadhan kariho,amarlok
pahunchaaunga|
Maha Prabhu anant dayaamaye,Unsey tohee
milaaunga||
Purport: “Wondrous is the path of Vihangam
Yoga; I will initiate thee into that; If thou practise it
as prescribed, I shall verily lead thee unto the land
of immortality. That Supreme Lord is infinitely
benign, and I will usher thee into His presence.
Therefore, you, the true seekers of everlasting
peace, begin searching for the Sadguru, for He
alone can show you the true path leading to
salvation and absolute freedom from worldly
sorrows and usher you into a state of eternal joy!!”
Just like finding a right teacher is not enough to
master all subjects and sciences, but one requires
to follow every teaching or lesson offered by that
teacher with utmost concentration and not trying to
judge the teacher’s intelligence. Players win
sports championships by not just working under a
great coach but following every little advise
provided by that coach and by completely sticking
to the coach’s game plan rather than second
guessing his approach.
Even in this spiritual journey of ours, which is the
ultimate journey, we, the disciples have to
completely surrender ourselves to the Holy feet of
our Master, His Holiness Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji
Maharaj, and follow and practice diligently all his
preaching. One should not be overcome by the
other force, our Mind, which is constantly working
overtime and causing all kinds of obstacles during
this divine journey. It is this Mind, which makes
one slaves to the constant cravings of the material
world. It overpowers one to the extent sometimes
that it makes one to doubt the power of the Holy
Sadguru Himself. As the Mind, can only focus on
material things, it tries to evaluate the Sadguru on
the material achievements that the Sadguru could
help one accomplish. In other words, it tries to
deviate one from the prime reason of seeking a
Sadguru, which is, not accomplishing some
physical or material goals but instead achieve the
ultimate goal, which is Salvation – the union of
soul with the Almighty. We as practitioners have to
surrender ourselves completely to the Holy
Sadguru and not to the evil Mind. We should not
let our Mind fool ourselves in seeking a phony
guru who is more a magician performing miracles
and further bury us in the material illusion rather
than guiding us towards God realization.
In the “Guru Gita”, Lord Shankar hints at the
greatness of the guru, by way of the following
verse:-.
Dhyan moolam gururmoorti, pooja moolam
guroh padam|
Mantra moolam gurorvakyam, moksha moolam
guroh kripa||
We would need to absorb the essence of the
above mahamantra in our hearts. We would have
imbibed the relevance of this mahamantra only
when we realize deep down within our inner self
that the guru’s image is the essence of meditation,
the guru’s lotus feet are the essence of worship,
the guru’s utterances are the essence of mantras
and the guru’s benevolence is the essence of
salvation. Unflinching faith and devotion towards
the guru and development of eligibility within self
are essential pre requisites for being able to
imbibe the divine spiritual consciousness of the
guru within ourselves. Guru is not a mortal body
but an infinite ocean of spiritual energy; it stays
within a mortal body but yet He is immortal. It is
the duty of the disciple to genuinely surrender
before such a guru, and honestly follow the path
shown by Him; just chanting of mantras is not
sufficient. True knowledge and righteousness are
embodied within the Sadguru, and it is the
Sadguru who reveals it before the eligible
disciples. The Sadguru naturally possesses
several divine powers, all knowledge and
sciences, riches and luxuries, courage and valor,

brilliance and effervescence. The disciple
immensely benefits by surrendering before such
an endowed Sadguru. Maharshi Sadafaldeo Ji
Maharaj writes in the Swarved:-
Satya gyaan satya dharma sab, Sadguru ashrit
hoy|
Jyon samudra nadiyaan milee, Brahma gyaan
gun soy|| Swarved 2/4/41
Purport: The humble, completely surrendered
disciple, overflowing with a feeling of love and
respect for the Sadguru’s instructions, attains
ultimate peace and bliss.
In one of the satsangs that I attended in
Hyderabad, India, one of the Swami Ji’s ( Sadguru
Swatantradeo ji’s ) disciples narrated to me a true
story. There was one disciple of Swami Ji, who
used to go on the morning jog with our Sadguru.
While jogging, when he looked back he always
saw two pairs of footprints traced by them. This
same disciple underwent some real bad times in
his life on the material grounds like financial
problems etc. As he was undergoing these
problems, he noticed that almost all his dear
friends and relatives started distancing themselves
from him. He felt alone. During this tough time, on
his morning jogs with Sadguru, he noticed that
there was only one pair of footprints following
them now. As time passed by, he was able to
overcome all his financial problems and noticed
that all his friends and relatives started to flock
around him once again. Later, on his morning jogs
with Sadguru, he noticed once again that there
were two pairs of footprints traced by them. He
then asks SwamiJi,- how come even He deserted
him like all others during his tough times? SwamiJi
responds to that disciple that it was His footprints
that he saw when he noticed only one pair of
footprints during the tough time, as it was SwamiJi
Himself who was carrying that disciple in His
arms. Sadguru Sadafaldeo Ji Maharaj writes in
Swarved as follows:
Chaaron fal guru charan mein, chah amit fal pay |
Sadguru jan raksha karein, sarva tham jas aay ||

Purport: By serving the Holy Feet of the Sadguru,
in addition to all four necessities of life – wealth,
duties, worldly desires and moksha (liberation
from the cycle of birth and death) – the Supreme
Soul is also attained as an infinite, unasked
reward. The sense conveyed is that by serving the
Sadguru and being devoted to Him, the Lord is
attained and the disciple being liberated in lifetime
enjoys infinite and divine bliss in life. Sadguru
protects His devotees and disciples at all places,
whenever and wherever the same is needed.
Nobody has ever received true knowledge and
successfully completed the journey of attaining
true consciousness without the guidance of a true
Sadguru. So, let us all realize this fact and through
Seva (service to the Guru), Satsang (listening and
discussing the Holy Scriptures and Sadguru’s
teachings) and Sadhana (the regular practice of
Vihangam Yoga meditation) of our Sadguru, make
this precious human life of ours meaningful.

Purport: Teeno granthi nivriti ka, Sadguru sharan upay: The
solution to these bondages is only a complete surrender at the
lotus feet of Sadguru. It is by performing seva at the feet of the
sadguru that a soul gets the knowledge of Sahaj Yoga. What is
Sahaj Yoga?
Sahaj yog tatva gyan hai: Sahaj yoga is the science that gives us
the power to see things in its true state, which can only happen
in the absence of ignorance. Thus through the blessings of Lord
Sadgurudeo, the soul finally realizes it’s true conscious self and
burns off the entire storage of Karma with the Brahma Vidya.
