The world is concerned about the gargantuan quantity of synthetic materials being used and produced yearly. Researchers have been trying to answer this, but only few of their discoveries are applicable and economical. In accordance to that, the City of Calapan has issued an ordinance banning the use of plastic bags. Due to this, the researchers came up with a bag made from agar, amylum, and used paper.

Through recycling, the production of the RAP bag reduced the amount of synthetic materials, answered the concerns of people regarding the tearing apart and utilized used papers. The government, the schools and the simplest housekeepers are to be benefitted by this project in the near future. The materials needed were gathered. The 15 grams used papers were shredded into pieces then were grinded using the electric blender, were placed into the frame of desired size and were set aside.

Meanwhile, the 20 grams red algae were boiled and after some time, the 30 ml amylum solution was added into the red algae placed in a cooking pot with low heat temperature. When the mixture became gelatinous, it was applied in the sheet of recycled paper. Then, the mixture was left to dry on the recycled paper. Lastly, the material was folded and the bag was constructed. With several tests and surveys conducted, the RAP bag proved to be worthy based on its ecofriendliness; degrades in a period equal to the papers ,efficiency; water-proof and durability; can carry a load of 3.5 kg.
