Poor oral reading and comprehension skills of some first year entrants.

Conceptualize and implement strategies and activities as an intervention to improve oral reading and comprehension skills of first year slow readers.

Will the conceptualized strategies and activities helped improve oral reading and comprehension skills of first year poor readers?

The result of this study would identify students with reading difficulties and would give reading teachers the opportunity to apply strategies they believe could help these students improve their reading skills.

Strategies that proved to be effective could be benchmarked by the school so as to improve further the reading skills of identified students with reading difficulties in other year level.

The Experimental Method of research will be used in this study. Slow readers will be identified during the enrolment period. Reading teachers will confer to decide what strategies and activities to be used to accomplish the purpose.

Identified students will undergo an eight-week reading intervention using the strategies identified by the reading teachers. After the exposure period, the students will be given a reading test to determine if their oral reading and comprehension skills improve significantly.
