LORDS OF ACID

Ask anyone who knows dance music history, and the opening "Darling, Come Here" vocal on the world-wide smash single "I Sit On Acid" is what virtually seared Lords Of Acid into the genres collective memory. While theres no arguing that or the similar iconic status of tracks like "Crablouse," "I Must Increase My Bust" and "Pussy" whats often overlooked is the ability of Lords Of Acid founder and head perv Praga Khan to subtly veil seismic musical shifts behind a silky veneer of beatpumped raunchy fun. Where "I Sit On Acid" deftly took acid house to trance and subsequent massive releases (the albums Lust and Voodoo U each sold over 500,000 copies in the USA alone) further nudged electronic dance music more and more toward rock and roll. Long before it was popular and quite possibly long before anyone else had imagined it could be done. Now, ten years after the bands last full-length album, Praga Khan is once again ready to take dance music by the tail with the new album Deep Chills (Apr. 10, Metropolis Records) and single "Pop That Tooshie" as the honey trap. "Pop That Tooshie" features adult superstar Alana Evans in a siren-song of a dance floor smash. Its a hormonal call to lure the listener further into Khans musical burlesque. Also joining Praga Khans conceptual sideshow are vocalist extraordinaire DJ Mea (who also fronted the Lords Spring 2011 USA Tour). Zak Bagans, renowned television star from the Travel Channels Ghost Adventurers and Paranormal Challenge, provides guest vocals on the track "Paranormal Energy." And, while "Pop That Tooshie" delivers the euro-style leftfield/hop-hop mash up thats sure to take clubs by storm, its just the stylistic point-of-entry to yet another of Khans genre-bending gambits. As an album, Deep Chills carries listeners to the future of dance rock using sexual chicanery and lacy innuendo to mask the true intent the same intent as Praga Khan always had in mind for Lords Of Acid to be something new. Lords Of Acid will embark on a world tour in 2012 in support of Deep Chills, and the band is already making plans for a follow-up to Deep Chills. Whatever comes next, one thing clubbers and music insiders will be saying twenty more years from now is what they say today: Praise The Lords.
