FOREWORD
FROM THE CHAIRMAN
OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Dear Student,
This small booklet shows you how to work safely without
causing injury to yourself or to other people. A lot of the
study you do here at ATI is carried out in workshops and
laboratories. These are places where accidents can
easily happen, unless you are very careful and sensible.
If you follow the rules and procedures in this booklet,
you are unlikely to have any serious problems. If you do
not, you may cause damage to equipment and injury to
yourselves and to other students. Health and Safety is a
very important issue, particularly in the Oil and Gas Industry
where you are working with dangerous products in difficult
conditions. Part of your training here at ATI prepares you for
work in these conditions. Therefore you will follow a course
in HSE (Health, Safety and the Environment) and HSE will be
a part of all the practical courses you study. You should
apply what you learn at all times. I cannot emphasize the
importance of following HSE procedures enough. I wish
you success in all your studies, but most of all, I want you to
remain safe in the workshops and laboratories at ATI. Your
safety is important to us. Please do your best to stay safe
and healthy at all times, by following these simple rules.
Mohammed S. Al Qubaisi
Chairman, ATI Board of Trustees

AFTERWORD
FROM THE
ATI MANAGER
Dear Student,
Now you know how important Health, Safety and the
Environment are, so you must do your best to keep yourself
safe by studying this book and making sure that you are
aware of all the safety regulations and procedures, and
apply them at all times. ATI issue you with safety boots
and overalls and you should always wear them, even if
you do not think they are fashionable! This clothing and
footwear is designed to protect you. Imagine if you are
working on a lathe or a compressor wearing a dishdashr
or a Ghutra, and a piece of the material catches in some
rotating part. The result can be serious injury or even death.
This is why we insist that you wear safe clothing at all times.
Additionally, you should remember to wear safety goggles
at all times when working in the workshops. We are training
you for working on ADNOC production sites, where you will
also have to wear appropriate safety gear and protective
equipment. So follow the safety rules at all times. They are
there for your protection. Study hard and keep safe.
Omar Al Hamed
Manager,
