International Institute of Business Analysis releases BABOK Guide 2.0

Toronto, Ont. (March 31, 2009) -- Today, International Institute of Business Analysis released BABOK Guide 2.0. Members of IIBA completed almost three years of study and received over 5,000 comments from more than 1,500 subject-matter-experts prior to the release of this latest version. Vice President of Professional Development Kevin Brennan, CBAP, PMP, says, IIBA has now completed its original goal of developing a common framework to understand and define the practice of business analysis. Almost 200,000 practitioners have used earlier versions of the BABOK Guide. BABOK Guide 2.0 is currently available in PDF format only, with a print publication to follow later in 2009. IIBA members can download a free copy of the PDF for personal use at www.theiiba.org. Nonmembers may purchase a copy of the PDF for US$29.95. Bulk licenses are available. IIBA surveyed the business analysis community to ensure that content really does reflect generally accepted practices. We are very confident the tasks and techniques found in BABOK Guide 2.0 are performed by the majority of business analysts worldwide, says Brennan. Brennan says, Based on everything weve learned, our goal has been to ensure that the BABOK is adaptable enough to fit the needs of the broad community of business analysts, while also making it simpler to use and easier to understand.
