Introduction to Organizational Behavior

Key Terms
Organization: An organization is an entity
where group of individuals work together towards common goals.

Evidence Based Management: The Basing

Managerial Decisions on the best available Scientific Evidence.

Behavior: A response of an individual or

group to an action, environment, person.

Intuition: A gut feeling not necessarily

supported by research.

Organizational Behavior: It is the study of

Human Behavior, Attitudes Performance in Organizations. and

Psychological Contract: It is not only

measured in monetary value or in exchange of goods or services, it is in the essence the exchange or sharing of Beliefs and Values, Expectations and Satisfactions mutually.

Administrative Theory: An Approach to

Management that focuses on describing what mangers do and what constitutes good management practice.

Psychology: The Science that seeks to

measure, explains, and sometimes changes the behavior of Humans and other animals.

Bureaucracy:

A form of organization characterized by Division of Labor, a clear defined Hierarchy, detailed Rules and Regulations, and Impersonal Relationships.

Sociology: The study of people in relation to

their fellow human beings.

Social Scientific Management: An approach that

involves using the Scientific method to determine the One Best Way for a job to be done.

An area within Psychology that blends concepts from Psychology and Sociology and that focuses on the influence of people on one another.

Psychology:

Anthropology: The study of societies to learn Contingency Theory: It proposes that the
appropriate Organizational Structure and Management Styles are dependent upon a set of Contingency factors, usually the Uncertainty and Instability of the Environment. about human beings and their activities.

Systematic Study: looking at relationships,

attempting to attribute causes and effects, and drawing conclusions based on scientific evidence.
