I. PROJECT TITLE

Operation Timbang
II. PROJECT DURATION

The project will be implemented at Tagaytay St., Barangay 131, Barrio San Jose, Caloocan City in February 15, 2012 from 08:00am to 01:00pm.
III. PROJECT SCOPE

The target populations of this project are the community people of Tagaytay St., Barangay 131, Barrio San Jose, Caloocan City, age 0 to 84 months old. IV. PROJECT STATUS The proposed project is a new project for the residents adding to their current situation wherein most of them do not utilize the programs of the Health Center because of its distance. V. PROJECT BENEFICIARIES The program will benefit the community people of Tagaytay St., Barangay 131, Barrio San Jose, Caloocan City, age 0 to 84 months old. VI. PROJECT BACKGROUND Weight measurement is a procedure for evaluating the heaviness of child. It offers the most acceptable parameter and is the simplest way to determine the nutritional status of children age 0 to 7 years old. In the Department of Education, weight-for-age and height-for-age indicators of children below 10 years old are used while Body Mass Index (BMI) is used for children 10 years and above. VII. PROJECT JUSTIFICATION The project will determine the nutritional status of children age 0 to 7 years old, whether the child is malnourished or well nourished. It will also help the barangay health workers to identify those children who need supervision. This will inform the parents or concerned people the importance of determining the nutritional status of their children so the procedure or intervention needed will be easily put into action. VIII. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

General Objective: Health promotion through assessment of the nutritional status of children age 0 to 84 months. Specific Objectives: 1. Weigh community residents age 0 to 84 months old. 2. Identify children who are malnourished and well nourished. 3. Create awareness among children, parents and concerned community people the importance of nutrition to children. 4. Create a program based from the weight results of the children. IX. PROJECT DESCRIPTION This project aims to create awareness among children, parents and concerned community people the importance of weight monitoring in order to assess the nutritional status of children age 0 to 84 months old. X. PROJECT PROPONENT The students of BSN203 Group 9 under the Far Eastern University Institute of Nursing will manage the monitoring of the weight of the children under the supervision of their clinical instructor NerissaRestor RN, RM, MHPEd. XI.
