Definition:
A kelong is a Malay word to describe a form of offshore platform built predominantly with wood, and can be found in waters off Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia, while only a handful remains around Singapore due to rapid urbanisation. Kelongs are built by fishermen primarily for fishing purposes, although larger structures can also function as dwellings for them and their families. About the kelong resort

Location: Batam, Indonesia a 10-12 min boat ride from land. Size of Batu Besar Kelong: 23m x 23m How to get there: From Singapore, take a regular ferry from either the World Trade Centre (WTC) or the Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (TMFT). At WTC Departure Lounge on the 3rd Floor, Batam Fast Counter. Depart Singapore 9:30am. Arrival into Batam Centre. Travel time is approximately one hour. At TMFT Depature Lounge, Batam Fast Counter. Depart Singapore 9:00 am. Arrival into Nongsa Terminal in Batam. Travel time is approximately 40 min. Note: Batam is one hour behind Singapore.
