NIST Parent Support Guidelines

NIST encourages parent support of all students involved in and representing NIST in sports. The school feels that the role of parents in supporting their children in sport is crucial to the individual students development both at school and at home. Parental support extends beyond each sport to include encouraging your children to lead healthy lifestyles, have healthy eating habits and appropriate sleeping patterns for the all round healthy development of your child. Parent Support for competitive games and tournaments Cheer on the players and teams Model appropriate behavior in terms of verbal encouragement Not to get involved with the coaching of a team or the referring of a game Be respectful of the other players, team and coach Be seated in the spectator area and not on the team bench Be as positive an influence on the players as possible

Parent Team Support Refreshment Guidelines Parent support groups liaise with the appropriate coach to discuss what support is needed on a game by game / tournament / event basis. On a voluntary basis supply refreshments that run along the agreed needs. No parents should be asked for money to support these agreed needs.
