Accessing shadow copies
4 From the local server or another
Windows 2003 Server computer, you can access
shadow copies by connecting through the UNC
network path of \\servername\sharename
4 For Windows XP or earlier operating systems, you
must install the Previous Versions client.

Expected overhead
4 Disk I/O:
The expected impact for Shadow Copy is an average of 5
percent to 6 percent increase in CPU utilization, because
of the additional disk activity.
4 Disk space usage:
A minimum of 100 MB is allocated per volume for shadow
copies. This space will dynamically grow up to a user-
defined limit. In Service Pack 1, we will see an increase to
300 MB.
Default limit is 10 percent of the volume size.
When the limit is reached, the oldest shadow copy is
deleted to reclaim space for the newly created copies.
