University of Washington Stipend for Training Aspiring Researcher (STAR) Internship in Fisheries and Aquatic Science

The STAR internship in fisheries and aquatic science is an undergraduate internship opportunity for a student interested in graduate studies in aquatic and fishery sciences. This 10 week internship (June 18th August 17th) is designed to expose the participant to graduate level research, fisheries sampling techniques and scientific communication skills. The selected participant will be mentored by a current graduate student from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Sciences at the University of Washington and participate in sampling of Sockeye and Coho salmon on the Copper River Delta in Alaska. Airfare to and from Seattle, WA from the participants home institution will be provided. Travel and lodging while conducting field work in Cordova, AK will also be provided. Undergraduates currently enrolled in a tribal college or US college/university pursuing a degree in environmental science, oceanography, fisheries biology, hydrology or physical sciences are eligible to apply. Applications are encouraged, from U.S. citizens belonging to groups currently underrepresented in fisheries and aquatic science (i.e., Native Americans, Alaskan Natives, African Americans, Latino/Hispanics).
