On examination, he has vesicles around his ear & on his soft palate. 4 A 50 year old woman has developed complete palsy of the left side of the face including the forehead. She also has mild facial pain & watering of the eye on that side. Her sense of taste is impaired. 5 A 56 year old woman with a history of atrial fibrillation develops sudden weakness of the right side of her face. She is still able to wrinkle both sides of

her forehead & her smile is symmetrical. 6 A 35 year old man has developed a slowly progressive right-sided facial palsy with deafness & tinnitus. As well as facial asymmetry, he is unable to adduct his right eye. His father had been similarly affected.
