Summary Checklist A summary is a concise description of the major points of something you have read or listened to.

It does not include your opinion. To see if it is a good summary ask yourself the following questions: Is it concise? Does it mention all major points? Does it state the authors intent? Is it a coherent, unified paragraph? Does it include your opinion?

Concise: Brief, with few details Coherent: Easily understood Unified: All fits together
