Demonstration Reflection

The content area I decided to use is Language Arts. The topic I was assigned to was study skills/test preparation. My whole Unit is on Grammar. I decided to use a strategy from our book. The strategy is called the Word Map strategy. A word map is a visual representation of a definition. My unit s intended for 3 graders and I felt that the word map strategy was appropriate for that grade level. Taking notes can be boring but this strategy makes students think outside of the box and it makes note taking somewhat fun. I feel that my demonstration is extremely effective. I went over what a word map is and I followed that by discussing the lesson content on nouns. I tried to be very clear and straight forward. I think I could definitely use this strategy in my future classroom. A word map is a great strategy and can be used with any subject and vocabulary.
