Relationship between Temperature and the Equilibrium Constant.

The relationship between temperature and thje equlibrium constant: Ln K = -H + C RT Where K = equilibrium constant H= enthalpy change of reaction R = gas conbstant T = temperature C = constant

Graph of ln K against I is a straight line with the slope = - H. T R Endothermic reaction Exothermic reaction

Increasing temperature increase the rate constant for both the forward and the reverse reaction. Increase the rate reaction and equilibrium will be achieved in a shorter time.

High temperature favours the endothermic reaction. Low temperature favours the exothermic reaction.
