    Apply high flow oxygen to BOTH the face and the tracheostomy

    Assess tracheostomy patency

    Remove speaking valve or cap (if present)

    Can you pass a suction catheter?

    Yes

    Is the patient improving?

    No
    Remove, unblock and replace inner cannula

    Monitor need for further intervention

    Connect Ambu Bag Inflate cuff (if present)

    Bag moves with respiration?
