Name: Mike Ike Email Address and/or Twitter Name: imlikemike@gmail.com @mikeike Text Number: 404.555.1234 Problem & Specific Location: Kids in Dunwoody are lazy and inactive. My Solution & Specific Location: I create a after-school nutrition class for elementary school children at the Dunwoody Boys & Girls Club. Significance: My research is personally significant because I have always battled weight and have wondered how to break the cycle of obesity in my family. Benefits: Decreasing childhood obesity in my community would boost the self-esteem of children, decrease bullying, create new cycles of healthiness, and lengthen children's life spans. 3+ Research Questions: What weight is considered obese for children? Who determines what's obese? What obesity limits do different cultures set? How many children are obese in Dunwoody? Why are children obese? How can we decrease childhood obesity in Dunwoody? Directly Affected Party: Overweight Children Allies: Parents of Obese, PE Teachers, Health Clinics, After School Programs Opponents: Fast Food Restaurants Decision Makers: Parents Resources: To complete this project, I will research the internet and books about weight, interviews, maps of food resources in our neighborhoods, as well as data on youth in Dunwoody. Possible Obstacles: My family doesn't have a car so I'd have to find other ways to get to the nutrition class. I also don't have internet at home, so I'll have to use a few of my lunch periods to work in the school library.
