Grammar and cultural aspects can be introduced through songs Purpose To teach students new adjectives which are

used often especially in the spoken language. To expose students to German music and songs as well as the culture and way of life through the songs.

Pre listening Students and teacher discuss about any German bands or singers that the students are aware of. Students are also given brief information about the song which will be heard during the activity- Schwein sein by the group Die Prinzen. Students are told the gist of the activity, which is to fill in the blanks with the adjectives heard in the song.

While listening Students listen to the song for the first time without being given the lyrics of the song. Before listening again, students are asked to read the song text given and to fill in the blanks with the missing words heard in the song. Students may listen to it twice if necessary. Post listening Answers are discussed and corrected in class. New words are also explained by the teacher. The word like Schwein is discussed to understand its meaning in the context and how Germans use it. The possible meaning and objective of the song is also talked about. This is to see the world today through the singers and Germans point of view. Discussion on other similarities and differences of the life style of Germans and Malaysians are discussed. - Work, Family, Importance of football, Holidays and Festivals in Germany

Homework Students can be given the task to find out about other cultures in Germany and types and ways of celebrations and festivals celebrated in Malaysian in Germany with some examples to be presented and discussed in the next class.
