(4 min) Set Induction To begin I will tell them my expectation of them and how they will be graded and the unit will flow for the next 3 weeks. I will also discuss with the students what the rules of basketball are. In addition to different terminology used and violations that take place while in game play. (6 min) Warm-up: Free Throws Description and Management: There are 4 courts with free throw lines and 24 kids in the class. So there will be 6 students at each basket. They are to shoot 5 free throws each. They can either alternate or just shoot them all at once. There will be one ball at each basket (4 basketballs total). At the end of the warm-up they will come tell my how many they made and I will record it. (10 min) Task 1: Continuous Knockout Description and Management: This is like knockout only that when the person that gets someone out is out then that person may go back in. The students may choose to shoot from the three-throw line or the 3-point arch. Each basket must agree on where to begin to keep the game fair. Each basket will have 2 balls (total of 6 basketballs) and there will be 8 students at 3 baskets. Extensions (E): The students, at any point, can intensify the competition by moving back and making the distance from the start of the shot to the basket. Application (A): How many people can you get out in one round? (10 min) Task 2: 5 vs. 5 Half Court Game Description and Management: There will be 4 teams of 6. They will play half court and scrimmage for about ten minutes. For half court basketball when the defense retrieves the ball after a shot they must take the ball behind the 3-point line and that is when they become offense. For this first day the student will be allowed to pick their teams. Extensions (E): The students will have subs to aid in strategizing and helping them keep fresh and rested legs. Application (A): How many points can you score in 10 minutes?

(1 min) Closure: Tell the students that tomorrow they focus on dribbling and play again. Tell them how they did today and then dismiss them. Assessment: The students are constantly being supervised and observed on their cooperation, respect, effort and participation. R.
