RE-STRUCTURING OF SAMPLING DEPARTMENT

Background Sampling is the best way to place an order. Though it is a difficult and time consuming process it helps the manufacturer to get the order from the buyer. Sampling benefits: Clear idea on costing Clear idea of manufacturing difficulties Can optimize the processing parameters for mass production, thus can avoid all kinds of bottle necks. The buyers assess the manufacturer / organisation only by the samples. An unbalanced sampling process flow has the potential of giving skewed results to the manufacturer hence reducing profits and creating problem areas in the later production cycles. Objective: To stream-line the process flows of sampling department. To eliminate non- value added activities To utilize documentation for proper information flow and reduce communication gap. To enhance productivity of sampling line Research Methodology Analysing the process flow for sampling department in ABC Company Analysis UNVA were categorized using cause and effect diagram By using sample review sheet frequency of consultation was reduced by 69.4% By using new sample request sheet no. cells to be filled was reduced by 38.4% By using multiple bundle system the operator waiting time was reduced by 17% A new layout was proposed with the embroidery machine inhouse Conclusion Assessment of the improvement after implementation of the solutions The implementation of the solution led to the streamlining of the process flow of sampling Key Words: department and the percentage change in output was 20%
