    Evolution occurs through genetic changes in populations over time, either through microevolution involving changes in allele frequencies within a population over a short period, or macroevolution involving large-scale changes over long periods which can accumulate from microevolution. Natural selection and sexual selection are forms of evolution where traits better adapted to an environment or that increase chances of reproduction are differentially reproduced, explaining both similarities due to shared ancestry but also diversity through natural selection.

    Sexual Selection is a form of natural selection that directly affects traits that increase an

    Evolution by means of natural selection explains both the unity and the diversity of life
    on earth.

    • Natural selection accounts for much of the diversity
