Parts of Speech as Linguistic Universals
Universals in linguistics are an important parameter of language classification. In the article
parts of speech are considered as linguistic universals on grammatical level. The problem of
classification of parts of speech remains still topical, which may be testified to by absence of
a unified view as regards the stock and number of parts of speech.

On System of Comparison and its Units:
Structures with Comparative Predicate Napominat (be reminiscent of)
In the article peculiar features of comparative constructions with verb napominat (be
reminiscent of) are considered in their relation to the prototype construction with conjunction
kak (as) and other constructions with comparative predicates. In the course of analysis features determining the place of a unit in the system of Russian comparison are revealed.

An Essay on the Inferential Analysis of Public Inscriptions
The methodological roots of the analysis of the author of an inscription intensions are developed in the article. Inferential model of communication is chosen as a basis of the method.
Examples of inscriptions are analyzed in correspondence with the method described. The possibility of using this method in legal practice and in sociological studies is also suggested.

prosaic works by A.Belyj. Types of intratext connections which are formed bycompound occasional words both as units of a word-formation system and as lexical units are
considered in the article. Different ways of figurative use of words, revealing theoriginality of A.Belyjs artistic method and also the specific features of his style, are analyzed as well.

Matters of allegorical meaning in works of art are considered in the article on the material of I.S.Turgenevs story Asya. Tropes (metaphors, metaphorical epithets and metonymies) appear as allegorical meaning of a word. Non-tropical symbols (monosemantic
allegories and polysemantic symbols) are shown as allegorical meaning of an image.

Andrej Platonov and Satire in the Twenties of the Last Century
This article is devoted to the definition of Andrej Platonovs place in the satirical literature of the 19201930. In this article the author discovers the circle of Platonovs acquaintances among Voronezh and Moscow satiric writers, his attitude towards country policy,
outlines the reports of Platonovs contemporaries about his creative manner. The author
shows tragic fates of satirists in the 1920th1930th, analyses the reasons why Andrej Platonov has waived of satire.

The Poetics of Stories by Anatolij Kim
The problem (not yet completely investigated) of the poetics of Anatolij Kims stories
is considered in the article.
The analysis of key motifs and images, basic characters and distinctive features of
plot-construction, narrative principles and composition devices reveals unity and integrity
of the writers creative works.
Special attention is given to the phenomenon of intermediation which reveals itself
inthe use of devices bringing together literature and painting (composition laws), literature
and music (polyphonic form, counterpoint).

From Genre Mixture to Burlesque Tragedy
The article is devoted to the analysis of the burlesque tradition in the early works by Henry
Fielding. Different variants of incorporating a burlesque into the genre structure of a dramatic

work are considered on the material of The Authors Farce and The Life and Death of Tom
Thumb the Great. The way from a mixed structure in which a burlesque plays only the part of
one particular element, to the integrity of a burlesque tragedy is also traced.

The composition of the novel Zver iz bezdny (Beast from an Abyss) by E.N.Chirikov
is analyzed in the article. Architectonics of the novel is considered in detail. The basic plotforming device of combination of the two parallel narratives is also studied.

Some Memoirs on Behalf of Viktor Vladimirovich Vinogradov: Teacher. Man. Scientist
In the issue the non-abridged text of the report delivered at the plenary sitting of
the XI International conference Vinogradovs Readings (Moscow, MCPU, 2009) where
it aspired a great interest of auditory is being published. The author of the report is a wellknown linguist, the renowned science worker of Russia Elena Andreevna Zemskaya who
presents some memoirs of her teacher an outstanding Russian scientist V.V.Vinogradov,
whose name it is a great honor to bear for the main scientific arrangement, held by philologists of the MCPU Vinogradovs Readings: Text, Context, Intertext in Linguistics,
Literary criticism and Methods of Teaching Philological Disciplines. For many students
being present at the sitting it was a unique experience of touching the history of science, closely connected with the history of their country and fates of outstanding personalities bearers of traditions of refined spirituality, self-sacrificing at the altar of science and
moral responsibility. The publication preserves the form of oral speech which in a masterly
fashion represents the atmosphere of real events and markedly expresses the connection
between generations in the development of Russian philology.
