1. Intro to Fabrication Laboratory a. Explain machines and programs, the Fab Lab rules, past projects that used the Fab Lab, etc. 2. Intro to boundaries and finding your image dimension a. (right click =>Position and size) 3. Introduction to press fit (slots, tabs and sides) a. Measuring material b. creating a test cut 4. Creating the cube a. Measure the material thickness (different for almost all materials) i. Use a caliper or a ruler b. Create a small test cut of your slots and tabs before creating the larger project i. Create three slots one that is the exact length, one that is .01 larger and another one that is .01 smaller ii. With acrylic the laser cutter makes the slot .01 larger then the measurement on the computer so make the slot .01 smaller before cutting out c. Create one square that is less then 2-1 inches long on each side d. Copy or recreate a tab that fits in the slot tightly e. Add a tab to the square (DO NOT MERGE AS YET) f. Now create a slot that will hold the tab g. Place it on the square (you do not have to subtract since it cuts out anyways) h. Merge the tabs with the square i. Copy the square with the tabs and slots so you have four sides

Digital Design & Fab Activity1.0 i. If making a necklace or pendent create a small slot and tab with a hole in it to place a hoop

5. Cutting the cube a. Make sure you have enough space to cut out the cube i. If necessary change the position of the sides to fit the material b. Check the power and the speed chart for the material being cut c. Make sure you have the correct position by using the pointer with the laser cover open 6. Put box together
