Sertaline (Zoloft) Antidepressant (SSRI) Major Depressive Disorder, panic disorder, OCD, PTSD, Social anxiety disorder, PMDD PO 50mg/day. Children 6-12 yr: OCD-25mg once daily. Neuroleptic Malignant Sydrome, SI, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, insomnia, anxiety, confusion, chest pain, palpitations, diarrhea, dry mouth, nausea, sexual dysfunction, increased sweating, hot flashes, hyponatremia, tremor, hypertonia, serotonin syndrome, fever. Assess for SI especially early in the therapy. Monitor appetite and nutritional intake. Weigh weekly. Assess for serotonin syndrome, autonomic instability and GI symptoms. Monitor mood changes, frequency of OCD behaiviors, frequency and severity of panic attacks, feelings of feer, helplessness, horror.

Phenelzine (Nardil) Antidepressant (Monoamine oxidase inhibitors) Treatment of neurotic or atypical depression PO15mg 3 times daily, increase to 60-90mg daily in divided dose Seizures, dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, headache, hyperreflexia, insomnia, tremor, twitching, weakness, hypertensive crisis, sexual dysfunction. Assess mental status, mood changes and anxiety level frequently. Assess for SI, especially early in the therapy. Monitor blood pressue and pulse rate before and frequently during therapy. Monitor intake and output ratios and daily weight. 3. Risperidone (Risperdal) Antipsychotic Schizophrenia in adults PO 1mg twice daily Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, SI, aggressive behavior, dizziness, EPS, headache, increased dreams, increased sleep duration, insomnia, pharyngitis, rhinitis, cough, constipation, diarrhea, dr mouth, itching, skin rash.

Monitor patients mental status (orientation, mood, behavior) before and during therapy. Asssess weight and BMI before and during therapy. Monitor mood changes, SI. Monitor blood pressure and pulse before and frequently during initial dose titration. May cause tachycardia and orthostatic hypotension. Observe patient when administering medication to ensure medication is swallowed and not hoarded or cheeked. Monitor for EPS. 4. Clonazepam (Klonopin) Anticonvulsant Prophylaxis of Petit mal, akinetic and myoclonic seizures. Panic disorder with or without agoraphobia. 0.5mg 3 times daily. SI, behavioral changes, drowsiness, fatigue, slurred speech, ataxia, sedation, abnormal eye movements, diplopia, nystagmus, ataxia, fever. Monitor for SI, assess for drowsiness, unsteadiness. Observe and record intensity, duration and location of seizure activity. CBC and liver function tests should be evaluated periodically. May cause increase in serum bilirubin, AST and ALT. 5. Olanzapine (Zyprexa) Antipsychotic Schizophrenia, acute therapy of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar I disorder, treatment resistant depression. PO 5-10 mg/day. Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome, SI, Seizures, constipation, amblyopia, rhinitis, dry mouth, increased liver enzymes, weight loss or gain, tremor. Assess mental status before/during therapy, monitor BP, pulse, respiratory rate, weight and BMI. Assess fluid intake and bowel function. Monitor patient for onset of akathisia, tardive dyskinesia.
