Essay is the composition of ideas in the form of writing. Discuss the three major steps in essay writing. Introduction The introduction shows the writers understanding of the topic. Body The body shows logical presentation of the writer s ideas. Conclusion The conclusion shows the writers suggestion, solution or recommendation. Problems in written communication 1. Choice of language 2. Length of communication 3. Status of audience 4. Health 5. Lack of feedback Discuss any 2 of the steps involve in written communication 1. Planning/Pre-writing stage Involves planning or drafting the entire work or jotting down points to be devel oped logically. 2. Writing stage Involves in paragraphing and breaking paragraph into topic sentences/coherence. Avoid grammatical mistake, sentence ambiguity, spelling mistakes. 3. Editing stage Involves reading over and making the necessary correction Briefly discuss why the following needs to be considered in written communicatio n. 1. Health condition 2. Status 3. Verbosity Verbosity refers to the use of too many words, so much so that they interfere wi th understanding. 2. Confusing language Confusing language refers to words that mislead the reader and cause communicati on breakdown. 3. Information overload Refers to giving so much information till you feel overwhelmed and confused. Explain terms 1. Paragraph Paragraph is a collection of related sentences dealing with one topic. 2. Topic sentence Topic sentence expresses the main idea of a paragraph. It is usually the first s entence of a paragraph and contains the central idea.
