Grady Period 3 The Feud Behind the Trials

In Aurthur Millers, The Crucible, he displays the different roles of Elizabeth Proctor and Abigail Williams. The dynamic feud between Elizabeth and Abby ran the witch trials. By the description and actions of Elizabeth and Abby, the readers will learn that Elizabeth is a saint and Abby is reason for the start of the witch trials. Elizabeth Proctor is a kind hearted woman. Elizabeth is a good wife. She is getting over the affair between her husband and Abby, but still struggles in trusting him. She still stays with him through all the struggle and strife because of her love for John. Elizabeth is a good Puritan and honors her beliefs. She is loyal and always goes to church. She honors the Ten Commandments. Elizabeth is a good wife and honors her Puritan beliefs. Abigail Williams wants John to herself and to get rid of Elizabeth. She has an affair with John Proctor. After her affair she thinks blaming Elizabeth of witch craft will get rid of her. By getting John to believe her lies she thinks he will help her and want to be with her. John does not want Abby and does not believe her. John thinks Abby is beneath him. Abby thinks she can win John back by blackmailing him and imprisoning Elizabeth. Abby wants John Proctor and is trying to get him by getting rid of Elizabeth but it does not work. In conclusion Abby wants John but he does not want her. Elizabeth is a good Puritan woman and wife. Without the conflict between Abby and Elizabeth there would not be witch trials in Salem.
