subjected to tensile testing using ASTM D638 standard for tensile testing on a mechanical testing device (Mini Bionix II D 638-01). All materials were obtained from Macmaster Carr and were cut to the ASTM standard size (Table 1). Their elastic modulus was calculated by converting the given durometer reading to modulus as shown below. The mechanical testing was performed, and the following data represents the relationship between the stress and strain experienced by the samples.

Theoretical Calculation of Elastic Modulus from materials purchased from McMaster Carr (Gent 2001). The theoretical method to convert a durometer reading to Youngs modulus is: E (MPa) = (15.75 + 2.15 Ha)/(100-HA) Calculations: Neoprene 50A durometer : (15.75 + 2.15 (50)/(100-50)= 2465 kPa Neoprene 30A durometer: (15.75 + 2.15 (30)/(100-50)= 1146 kPa Santoprene 55A durometer : (15.75 + 2.15 (55)/(100-55)= 2977 kPa Instron Testing Table 1: Dimensions of the Test Samples Thickness Width Length 3.2 13 57 mm mm mm
