‘only he can.He invites you to share his vision and love of Israel by

Atrium to learn more about the exciting and unique itinerary he
has created. Please contact Carol Berkin, 973-763-41 16223 to let
tus know youll be at the meeting,Tt has been said that in fife, only death and taxes are assured
While this is certainly true, there is something else that must be
added to the list~ change. Change is inevitable. It is constant. It
is always there. Yes, sometimes changes are so small, they are
difficult to recognize. But they are still there
At other times, however, the changes are rapid, significant and
not easily overlooked. That is certainly the case this year. As you
Snow, on June 30, Cantor Aronson will become our Cantor
Emeritus. I look forward to the two evenings celebrating him,
and thank all of you in advance for your participation and for
your support of Temple through the online tribute book dedi-
‘cated to him.
And on July 3, the big changes continue whent we will welcome «
new Cantor tothe congregation. I is un exciting time that is
filled with possibilities and is ripe with potential. Ihave rio doubt
there will be some challenges mixed in along the way, but that
109 is inevitable, and I am looking forward to working with our
staff and leadership to adress them when they do arise.
Because of this, [thought I would use my tine at tonight's
aninutal meeting, my 20th in fact, to discuss a number of exciting,
additions ancl changes that will take place beginning this fall.
Before I do a quick word of thanks, My thanks to my clergy
collegues who continue to be amazing pariners and friends.
Rabbi Miller, Cantor Aronson and Cantor Fins are each remark
able individuals and, as a team, there is no better.
My thanks to our senior staif members Leslie Sporn, Carol
Pastor and the newest addition, our educator Mindy Schret?.
‘Mindy joined us at this time last year and has been an amazing,
addition to our team. What she, along with Rabbi Miller and our
religious school board, hias been able to accomplish in under a
year is nothing short of amazing. My thanks fo Sunny Seglin for
her help, patience with me, wisdom, patience with me, dedica
tion and, have T mentioned, patience with me?
My thanks to our office and custodial staff, They worked
tirelessly behind the scenes all year long and deserve our thanks,
Nothing would be possible without them. And finally, my thanks
to our volunteer leadership and their leader, President Jay Rice
‘We have faced numerous challenges this year and our leadership
thas done an impressive job addressing them all. Jay has worked

tirelessly on behalf of this congregation, and I want to person
ally and publicly thank him.
‘So what is coming in the fall?
First, and most obviously, on July 3 we will welcome Cantor
Rebecca Moss to the congregation. This is a huge transition, the
first cantorial transition for this congregation in 45 years.
Cantor Moses brings with her a unique style, a passion for
music, and a passion for people. She has impressed everyone
here at TST whom she has met, and I have no doubt all of you
will feel the same way. She has already proven her wisclont to me
for, when asked how she felt abont change versus maintaining
tradition, she wisely answered, “I believe in respecting tradition
‘while, at the same time, introducing new melodies and innova~
tion that will ada to the excitement and sense of connection that
people have, It is never either or.”
Tam particularly excited that over the next few months, Cantor
‘Moses will be introducing a volunteer choir and band. Anel I am
especially thrilled about the latter, considering the amazing,
range of talent that exists in our community.
Beginning this July, we will have a series of small group gather-
ings so everyone can meet and greet Cantor Moses. Cantor
‘Moses is eager to get to know many members of the congregs:
tion as quickly as possible. And I know that all of you will enjoy
having some time to get fo know her. If you are willing to host a
gathering, please let Sunny know,
‘The first service that she will be leading will take place Friday
night, July 6. 1am starting my summer vacation late this year so
that might be there, and I hope to see many of you there as
‘well. OF course, the High Holy Days will be a wonderful oppor:
tunity for the community to welcome Cantor Moses. We will,
however, have a formal opportunity to welcome her early in
September a her service of instalation,
Td like to tell you of @ change in our High Holy Day schedul
‘we will move toward one evening service on Erev Rosh Hasha-
nnah and will hold that service at 7:30 PM. We will also have a
communal gathering prior to the service, where we will infor~
mally welcome the New Year in song. It will be a new, relaxed
and informal way to celebrate the end of one year and the
beginning of the next
