PE4Life Intern 2010-2011 a) Researcher as part of the Care Foundation Project Research Specialist duties: Collecting physical fitness data via the DIBA method (Direct Instruction Behavior Analysis) within physical education classes at K-12 level. Compiling existing data such as attendance, behavioral referrals, and academic benchmark scores. Perform data analysis and reporting b) After-school community based program: development and leading of new after school program in the Rogers Activity Center. A program that will include a biking, exergaming, community gardening, and games project for elementary students. Scholarly and Research Interests


Integration of Technology in PETE/PE: Examining the process of diffusion of technology within methods courses of PETE programs. Investigating the roles and relationships between content, pedagogy, and technology (TPCK). Web 2.0 Tools in PE: The application of web 2.0 tools such as wikis and blogs to extend and enhance learning within physical education. Teaching Basic Movement skills: Developing programming solutions for practical application, exchange research and practical experience related to observation, assessment, and programming strategies for children in performance of basic skills, and to locate and develop resource materials related to basic motor skill development at the K to 4 level. Specific interest in teaching basic movement skills using a applied behavioral analysis approach when working with children with special needs. Teacher Preparation / PETE Programs: The role of instructional scaffolding in teaching Physical Education. PETE Program assessment of pedagogical content knowledge, subject matter knowledge, experiences, beliefs and attitudes of pre-service teachers. Evaluation of innovative pre-service PETE programs.
