a) Determine the normal modes of vibration of a car simulated by the simplified two-DOF system with the following numerical

values K1=200kN/m, K2=250 kN/m, l1=1m, l2=1.5m, m=1500 kg, and J=300 kg m2. The elasticity of the tires may be ignored. b) Find the parameters of car, such that the eigen- frequencies are equal to each other. Determine vertical displacement and velocity in vertical direction of mass m as shown in Figure. The load is fixed at the end of a cantilever beam of length l and is subjected to the action of a unit impulse of force P(t )dt J P . The beam mass and resistance force may be ignored.

Analyze the above problem in case of sudden applied force P, i.e., taking P(t)=P0=const, as shown in Figure 2(b). A vibrating system consisting of a mass of 2.267 kg and a spring of stiffness 17.5 N/cm is viscously damped such that the ratio of any two consecutive amplitudes is 1 and 0.98. Determine (a) natural frequency of damped system (b) the logarithmic decrement (c) the damping factor, and (d) the damping coefficient. Write the differential equation of motion for the system shown in Figure 3 and determine the natural frequency of damped oscillation and the critical damping coefficient. Show that the natural period of oscillation of the fluid in a U-tube manometer shown in Fig is

A vibration pickup has a sensitivity 40 mV/cm/s between f=10 Hz to 2000 Hz. If 1 g acceleration is maintained over this frequency range, what will be the output voltage at (a) 10 Hz and (b) 2000 Hz. Determine the modal matrix P and the weighted modal matrix P for the system shown in Figure and diagonalize the stiffness matrix, thereby decoupling the equations.
