FOR OUR NATION, these are difficult times indeed! We are being bombed by the Boko Haram, Harassed by communal clashes; Fuel tankers blazing on the expressway! Plane crashing into peoples houses! Scandals Everywhere: Oil Subsidy, House Investigation etc. Hopelessness, Helplessness!

OUR CAMPUS has not been spared: In addition to these, we have suffered the loss of our VC, The assault on our Brand Name, Campus Closure, Poor electricity supply, etc. It is certainly not the best of times for an election to any position including the dean. What shall we say to these things?

There are occasions in the life of man and nation when times are so hard that bewailing your losses becomes a luxury you can ill afford. You must act quickly, or risk even more losses! Indifference is too costly! The world outside is not waiting for us. While may be at standstill or even retrogressing, THE REST OF THE WORLD MARCHES ON! It is like a moving train: You enter or you are left behind. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, we are in dire need of hope. A breadth of fresh air; A doggedness and a persistence to innovate and move forward; A determination to prepare the youth of this country for the technological world in which they have to compete. We cannot afford to be distracted. WE MUST FIGHT FOR THE SOUL OF NIGERIA.

THAT FIGHT begins here at Unilag, at the engineering faculty. Nigerias best and brightest choose Engineering at Unilag. We must not let them down. We must retool; We must refocus; We must be possessed of courage and passion to deliver. Away with smugness and lethargy; Away with indolence and complacency; It is time to move forward; Our brand is great; We will keep it great! On June 21, 2012, Vote wisely. A vote for oafak is a vote for Innovation, for hope and for the brighter future of these top students who choose Unilag. A vote for oafak is a vote for a better environment for research. A vote for oafak is an acknowledgement that competence matters. A vote for oafak is a vote for attainment of our individual and collective aspirations.
