NOTE: Make sure the I2C connector is pressed all the way in.
L8 COMPAIR CONNECTION If the Computer does not communicate with the ComPair box, restart the Computer with the ComPair box connected and turned On.

LOADING CHASSIS
1. After entering Compair, Select File and then Open. 2. Select the TV chassis. 3. Turn the Compair unit On. 4. Turn the TV set On. 5. Select Quick Test and Continue to establish communication with the set. A C will appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen to indicate that the set is in the ComPair mode. Note: Once the ComPair is connected to the set, no other commands except power On should be given to the set via the Front Keyboard or Remote.

1. STRUCTURED DIAGNOSTICS - Step by step troubleshooting. 2. QUICK TEST - Places the set in the ComPair mode. A C will appear in the upper right hand corner of the screen. 3. ALIGNMENTS - Allows for the changing of Drives, Geometry, AGC, and Option Bytes.

6. Select Quick Test, then Continue to access test patterns. 7. Select Structured Diagnostics to troubleshoot the set.

After making any selection that communicates with the CDR, switch the CDR Off and On. When Compair communicates with the unit, the box above will disappear. The front panel of the CDR will blank.

To perform the Laser Alignment adjustment, connect a 40 volt supply in series with a 1K, 1%, resistor to Testpoint 11 on the Record Deck PCB. Refer to the instructions in ComPair and the Service Manual for additional detail.

The Codes on the new Laser will be necessary when performing the alignments.

During the Alignments process, ComPair will ask you to enter these Codes.
