Beer drinking and fly-fishing are two deeply rooted Montana pastimes and both of these pastimes share a common threadwater use. Unfortunately, Montana has over 4,000 miles of trout streams that are dewatered due to irrigation withdrawals. Big Sky Brewing Company, Montanas largest brewer, purchases Water Restoration Certificates (WRC) from the Booneville Environmental Foundation to address this dewatering problem. By acquiring Water Restoration Certificates, the brewer is restoring all the water used in their beer to a dewatered Montana trout stream and is taking part in an initiative to restore the lifeblood of these ecosystems.
