Mounting Instructions for

PVC Hawlinger with Isolating Wedges Order No. 236

1. Intended use Hawlingers with isolating wedges are used for easy mounting onto pipes in potable water supply systems up to a max. operating pressure of 16 bar, and for gas systems (PVC pipes only) up to 4 bar. Please observe the applicable standards and rules, the regulations for the prevention of accidents as well as the relevant regulations of the trade associations. According to the DVGW standard fittings must be installed stressfree. Installation shall be performed by instructed personnel only.

2. Product description The pipe drilling saddles Hawlinger with integral shut-off device permit drilling under pressure. Shutoff is effected via half a turn as well as via a crank-driven saddle blade with fixed stops.

3. Installation 1. Check the drilling area for possible notches and score marks. The pipe surface must be free from notches and score marks. If necessary, smooth the surface by means of a scraper, observing the minimum admissible pipe outside diameter! 2. Arrange the shells around the pipe. 3. Push on the wedges (key them by means of a plastic mallet until the shells are closed). 4. Push a locking plate between the wedge and the shell. 5. Bend up the locking plate by means of a screwdriver. WARNING: To avoid damage to the coating use only plastic mallets or wooden shims. Please keep wedge surfaces free from grease!

4. 3.

4. Start-up and leakage test Please perform a pressure test after installation in the open pipe trench as described in the DVGW standard.
