LIGHTING SYS

LAMPS
SMALL HELIUM GAS FILLED LAMPS WITH FILAMENTS ARE USED IN VEHs. THE FILAMENT SUPPLY THE LIGHT WHEN SUFFICIENT CURRENT IS FLOWING THROUGH THEM. THE LAMPS ARE DESIGNED TO OPERATE AT LOW VOLTAGE, THAT IS 6, 12, 24V AND ARE WIRED TO OPERATE FROM CONTROL SWITCHES LOCATED WITHIN CONVENIENT REACH OF THE DRIVER THE FILAMENT USED ARE MUCH SHORTER AND STRONGER THAN THOSE USED FOR STD HOUSE LIGHTING LAMPS. A SHORT AND THICK RATHER THAN LONG AND THIN FILAMENT STANDS MORE ROUGH TREATMENT, AS THIS IS DESIRABLE IN THE CASE OF THE VIBRATION OF A MOTOR VEH. TWO CANDLE PWR LAMPS CONSUMES 0.43 AMP AT 6V & FOUR CANDLE PWR LAMP CONSUMES 0.85 AMP AT 6V.

SPOT LIGHT. IT IS SMALLER IN CONSTRUCTION TO THE HEAD LIGHT. IT IS USED TO DETECT AND OBSERVE THE CONDITION OF THE ROAD WAY TO THE SIDE AND FOR READING RD MARKING SINGS. INDICATORS AND INDICATING LIGHTS. INDICATORS ARE USED TO INDICATE DRIVER ATTENTION TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. AT TIMES BUSES AND TRUCKS ARE PROVIDED WITH LIGHTS TO INDICATE THEIR WIDTH OR LENGTH. AUX LIGHT. IT IS TO IMPROVE THE LIGHTING OF THE ROAD. IT CAN BE FITTED IN ANY PART OF THE VEH. BLACK OUT LIGHT. ARE USED TO ENABLE A CONVOY TO MOV AT NI WITHOUT BEING OBSERVED FROM AIR. USE OF REFLECTORS
A BULB IS MOUNTED WITHIN A REFLECTOR SO THAT THE LIGHT CAN BE GATHERED AND DIRECTED IN A CONFIRMED BEAM. THE BEST LIGHT BEAM FROM A LAMP IS OBTAINED BY THE USE OF A PARABOLIC REFLECTOR, WHICH IS THE TYPE IN GENERAL USE. THERE IS A FOCAL POINT NEAR THE REAR OF THE PARABOLIC REFLECTOR AT WHICH THE LIGHT RAYS FROM THE LAMP ARE PICKED UP BY THE POLISHED SURFACE OF THE REFLECTOR AND ARE DIRECTED IN PARALLEL RAYS TO GIVE A BEAM BEAM WITH A CIRCULAR CROSS SECTION. ANY OTHER POSN OF THE LAMP WILL NOT GIVE A CONFIRMED
