Legal Work Experience


July 2012 Experience Browne Jacobson LLP I spent time in the employment department dealing with contentious and non-contentious work including drafting a response to an ET1 notice of claim, and researching and advising on new employment regulations. I had some time with the corporate team drafting a high level response to some articles of association, forming new companies, and managing share allocations. I researched an immigration request for a (Tier Two) client, taking the time it would have taken from around three months to around ten days. I also experienced life in the professional negligence department, researching an area of solicitors negligence. 2-3 Grays Inn Square I undertook an assessed mini-pupillage and spent time in the High Court with Barristers and QCs and spent a number of days in magistrates and County Courts on matters of public and civil law. The assessment on the nal day was very positive and excellent feedback was given.

Mediation, Debating, Mooting, and Public Speaking


2011 to 2012 2011 2005 to 2008 2007 GDL Mooting Competition I have completed two rounds, both times as Senior Counsel. International Chamber of Commerce Mediation Competition I completed three rounds of the negotiation contest, bringing me to the semi-nals. Mock Trial Competitions At school I participated in the Mock Trial competitions, and went on to train the following team. Suolk County Council Budget Competition I headed the winning team in the county budgeting competition which involved managing a mock budget and presenting it to the Councillors, and was interviewed in the newspaper and on television. Debating and Public Speaking Competitions I participated in school and regional debating and public speaking contests and won a few.

Pro-Bono and Volunteering Work


2011Present Description StreetLaw I am currently involved in a project that aims to introduce GCSE students to the law. I worked as part of the team to run and manage the employment law workshop. We are now planning to provide similar workshops at school locations. British Red Cross, Nottingham I have created and managed a number of projects in the Nottingham area in support of refugees and asylum seekers as part of a large network and in smaller teams. One particular success was the Life in the UK Citizenship Test course which commenced in 2008. Nottingham Law Centre I assisted with employment disputes, particularly discrimination cases.

2008 to 2011 Secretary, LCF The Learning Community Forum dealt with student concerns, assisted with sta appointments, and met with lecturers to discuss any issues. Ambassador, UoN I presented, talked, and gave advice to prospective students. 2008 - 2010 IT Ocer, Theology Society I was responsible for organising social events, debates, running the website and social media, and creating promotional materials. Mentor, Stowupland High School I was part of a new project of peer mentoring which assisted students with behavioural problems.

Interests
I have travelled around Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Hungary, the Czech Republic, France, Belgium, Spain, Holland, Germany, Poland, Italy, Austria, and Croatia. I particularly enjoy visiting Eastern Europe and plan to travel there frequently in the future. I am somewhat of a fan of anything technological and enjoy taking computers apart and attempting to put them back together again, occasionally I am even successful in this. I am currently learning some programming (in Java). I have achieved many awards in swimming and completed life-saving training. I am also a skilled horse-rider and drive classic and vintage tractors which I occasionally take to shows in Suolk.
