AH COURTESY (ADAB)

(O Humanity! If you are willing to love Allah, walk towards Him; start each physical and spiritual work with courtesy, and try to finish with refinement.) Allah gave me courtesy. And how beautiful it is. Unless man is not graced with courtesy, he is not truly human. The difference between men and animals is courtesy. Reason unadorned with courtesy is a hero without a weapon. Courtesy is the outward form of reason. Courtesy is the control of one's hand, one's speech and one's sex. One who enters the Presence with courtesy returns with Favour. The foundation of courtesy is to speak sparingly. The hallmark of the saints of Allah is Courtesy. It prepares the ground for union. Without courtesy true nobility cannot be achieved. Courtesy is a weapon for killing satan. Courtesy is the highest of the Arts. It is the provisions on the path to Allah. Courtesy is the beginning of everything. Tasawwuf in its totality is courtesy. Courtesy is the first requirement for becoming mature. The one who abandons courtesy is no man of wisdom. Hold to your courtesy and cast the rest to the wind! The ones deprived of courtesy are turned away from the door of Truth. One who is deprived of courtesy has no reliable knowledge. The foundation of the law is courtesy. What is meant by Reality is courtesy. True courtesy is the abandoning of the nefs (the self-centred ego). Veil your shortcomings with courtesy. True beauty is that of knowledge and courtesy. The adornment of man is courtesy. The orphan is not he who has no father, but he who lacks knowledge and courtesy. One who does not teach courtesy to his children plays into the hands of his enemies. Spiritual advancement is only possible through courtesy. Salt your courtesy with your work. The wise learn their courtesy from those without it. Through the grace of courtesy and knowledge Adam became more favored than the angels. Satan was expelled from Allah's Presence because he abandoned courtesy. Discourtesy thwarts the flow of grace keeping us from the heart of the Sultan. Spiritual conversation (sohbet) is dead without the spirit of courtesy. To attain to the reality of faith, you need certain knowledge, for that certain knowledge you need sincerity of action, for sincerity of action you must perform the works enjoined by Allah (the fard), in order to perform the obligatory works you have to keep to the practices (the sunna) of the Prophet and for practising the sunna you must keep to courtesy.

Courtesy is possessing the knowledge and the principles which shield man from all kinds of faults. One who is not trained by the Sufies (the followers of Tasawwuf) cannot understand the truth of courtesy. With its increase the worldy decreases in value, yet as courtesy increases so does its value. Courtesy is not to devalue those above you and not to withold value from those below you. One who doesn't become courteous through the coutesy of his master cannot gain courtesy from the words (hadith) and the actions (sunna) of the prophet. One who does not become courteous through the words and actions of the prophet cannot do so through the verses (ayet) and the totality of the Koran. Endless is the grace for the one who enters the presence of his master with courtesy. Whoever serves his teacher with courtesy attains to the level of the Throne (Arsh) through him. Without having adopted the courtesy of the shaikhs, it is not possible to benefit of their grace The beauty of courtesy replaces the need for nobility. It is courtesy which makes one a true beloved. Enabled by courtesy man is protected from shameful things. Courtesy is keeping to the sunna of the Prophet. No honor exists which is higher than courtesy. The first step of courtesy is to stop the moment one is aware of one's ignorance and to overcome it. Whoever wishes to attain to knowledge let him be courteous. Whoever wants to be a performer of good actions must come to knowledge through courtesy. As long as the men of heart have good intentions in the work of love, their courtesy begins to increase. Courtesy is training the nefs as necessary and adorning it with good morals. Courtesy is an absolute virtue. The stations in the Garden are attained by good actions and courtesy. The friends of courtesy are Modesty, Sincerety, Submission, Love, Intention, Obedience, Eagerness, Sohbet and Service. I searched and demanded knowledge in the court of knowledge. Knowledge is only secondary to courtesy - "first courtesy, first courtesy" It always conceals the imperfections of man. What a beautiful garment you are, oh courtesy. I searched among those men of heart, And made demands among the men of love, All arts are accepted by God - "first courtesy, first courtesy". Courtesy is a crown made of the light of the Lord, Wear that crown and be secure from all affliction.
